Finding Reverence in Humanity

Looking up at vaulted ceilings connects us with the Divine.

Noticing Awe in Public Spaces

Can you find awe and wonder in human spaces?  Do you feel connected to Spirit in cathedrals, meditation halls, or other religious buildings?  What about creative venues such as art museums, concert halls, theaters?  What about mundane places like libraries, restaurants, markets, sports arenas and other public spaces that aren’t overtly religious or artistic?  Think about each of the ones I listed, does your feeling of reverence come from the activity people are doing or the physical space?  Keep in mind that awe is in response to something grand, sublime or extremely powerful.  I wonder if this is triggered by: being part of a large crowd? Witnessing artistic, physical and intellectual expression? Being in a building that has a vaulted ceiling or was built or decorated with care? I am an introvert and more easily connect with Spirit in Nature, but when I look past the complications of interacting with people, I can see the life force that is awe-inspiring in nature is very much present in public spaces as well. How many places can you find reverence for humanity? How can you recognize the sacred in everyday public life?
